Get it? :-)
What is the United States of America? What makes someone American? What does it mean to be an individual living in a country that boasts the word "united" in its name, and yet was founded on a strong streak of individualism and rebellion against authority?
This Is A(me)rica is an exploration of what makes someone... American. In a time when our government is, by some measurements, more divided than ever. In a time when when one of the most divisive presidents in history still wields undeniable influence over a large swath of the population. In a time when our new president ran on a platform of unification, yet clearly understands the limited prospect for bipartisanship.
But forget about all that for a moment. What about the individuals living in America today? How do they feel about the country, about the future? What are their hopes and fears? What make each of them uniquely American?
